How to Care for Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Here at Old Barn Star we pride ourselves in providing you with quality Amish-made reclaimed barn wood furniture. Our technique is classic, rustic, and most importantly reliable. To ensure that all of the barn wood furniture at Old Barn Star remains in good condition, most of our furniture is sealed with a water-resistant topcoat. However, wood comes from a natural living organism, and proper, ongoing care is recommended to help preserve the look and feel of the furniture.

Tips for Cleaning Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Here are three basic tips to clean and care for reclaimed wood tables and other furniture:

1. Use a damp cloth, not a heavy saturated cloth, to clean your reclaimed wood furniture to avoid water-related issues.

2. Stay away from silicone-based products and any cleaning product with an ammonia base. The chemicals in these products can irritate the barn wood.

3. Avoid direct sunlight and high heat areas of your home. These conditions can cause issues with warping and cracking in your furniture.

Proper Reclaimed Wood Furniture Care

Every piece of Old Barn Star reclaimed barn wood furniture has its own unique story. When proper reclaimed wood furniture care techniques are followed, the story of each product will be sure to stay in tact and continue to live through generations.

Consider a Custom-made Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table

There are many reasons why people buy coffee tables. Here are a few reasons why they buy custom-made, reclaimed wood coffee tables to enhance the look of their space:

1. Adds character. If you’re looking to create a one-of-a-kind piece that matches your current décor, we have barnwood stains and barnwood paint colors to customize the look of a coffee table. Applying a paint or stain to a reclaimed wood coffee table will not only give it more character, but it will help to preserve the life of the table.

2. Extra storage space. Some of our reclaimed wood coffee tables are crafted with shelves, which are ideal to hold decorative pieces or act as a convenient storage space for books, magazines, or other miscellaneous items.

3. Custom-made. When deciding on the perfect coffee table for a room, there are certain characteristics one is looking for. Some want a round coffee table. Some want one with a dark wood finish. While others want a table with shelves. At Old Barn Star we work with you to create a custom-made coffee table that suits your needs.

If you’re looking for a timeless piece that your friends and family will love, we suggest going with a rustic coffee table made from reclaimed barnwood. Picture you and a few close friends gathered together for a movie night; your new coffee table will be the perfect spot to place a hot bowl of popcorn within everyone’s reach.

Le Malt Went Custom with Rustic Barnwood Lounge Tables

“At Roomology™ Staging we aim to improve the look of any space, whether it’s your home or a commercial property. For this project we, at Roomology™ Staging, wanted to find unique rustic coffee tables that would not only counter balance the rich leather Chesterfield seating and high-gloss molding, but would stand up to spills, water marks, and the usual wear and tear expected in a restaurant/lounge.

Because the floor space was limited, we needed tables that were relatively small, but large enough to accommodate food and drinks for 2 guests. Our timelines were tight, so we initially scoured the Internet and visited many furniture stores for ‘off the shelf’ products. But, after weeks of unsuccessful searching, we realized we needed to go custom. That’s when we contacted Old Barn Star.

We first heard of Old Barn Star from good friends who recently purchased a new custom built dining table with benches; they were gorgeous! Old Barn Star was able to work closely with us on the design, providing us with many ideas and options for tabletops, wood species, and leg styles. Based on an idea from their website gallery, we settled on black painted metal legs which they were able to fabricate with the help of a local tradesman.

We had a large order of 25 tables and Old Barn Star was able to meet our timelines! The quality and finish of the tables are impeccable; they are heavy, solid wood, and beautiful. And to top it off, their customer services was outstanding.”—Nipa Alon, Owner of Roomology Staging (www.roomologystaging.com)

At Old Barn Star, we pride ourselves on our custom-made barnwood furniture. But, we’d like to remind you that we always keep a selection of Amish-made furniture in-stock.

The reason we keep some pieces of furniture in-stock is to allow for easy same-day ordering and pickup. So, you will be happy to know that all the same patience and hard work go into each of these ready-to-order barnwood items.

The furniture we keep available in-stock is usually left unfinished, which still gives you the option of customizing your selection with any one of the barnwood paint colors and stains that we offer.

Bathroom Decor Ideas

If you’ve thought about expanding your bathroom by getting rid of your closet or counter space but were worried you’d lose storage, a reclaimed barnwood hutch could solve that problem. It’s great for storing towels, soap, toilet paper or any other toiletries.

Not only does a reclaimed barnwood hutch help with storage space but it also allows you to have a standalone sink. Ditching the large counter top can give the bathroom a more open floor plan.

Maybe the thought of getting rid of your closet isn’t actually a thought at all. We custom make reclaimed pine vanities that allow for easy sink installation. With our selection of barnwood paint colors and stains finding the perfect match for your bathroom’s color scheme is simple.
